Career Development Services

Helping students find employment after completing the course is a major priority to PCCTI.  We offer Career Development Services to every one of our students.  Within the school there is over a 85% rate of placement.  PCCTI focuses on four main objectives when aiding a student in the job search. The focus is on Career Counseling, Internships, Externships, and Clinical Experience, Resume Critique, and Job Placement Assistance. PCCTI is committed in aiding our students in reaching their individual employment goals.

Career Counseling and Advising is the first step in aiding a student to attaining their career object.  Educational Advisors, Training Managers and Directors of Operations are here to aid students in beginning their path to achieving their employment goals. Career counseling starts the moment an individual enters through the door. Staff is trained to aid the student in making the correct career choices by choosing the correct courses to achieve their career aspiration. Educational Advisors, Training Managers, and Directors retrieve background information and meet with a student one on one to evaluate their level of education to find the proper course.

After a student has successfully completed the course with the G.P.A. of 2.0 or above. Students receive aid in various aspects to make them not simply knowledgeable in the field that they are attempting to enter, but also a well rounded marketable employee.  PCCTI provides students with various skills to achieve this. Communications skills and All Around Presentation skills are taught. Students learn how to behave and speak in an interview setting.  They receive mock interviews that prepare them for a real life situation. Students also receive etiquette skills such as the Do's and Dont's of interviewing.

Externships and Clinicals are the second step in aiding students find the perfect employer.   Educational Advisors and Training Managers work diligently every day in making affiliations and partnerships with various hospitals, medical centers, doctor's offices, clinics, and other medical facilities to send our students out to receive hands on training in a real world setting.  PCCTI knows how important working experience is to an employer. Outside working experience is a great way for students to gain a better understanding of the field they are entering and it also aids the students prepare for real life situations such as an interview.

Externship serves as the final component of the formal education process. This experience, following the course, provides the culminating experience for the student entering the specific field.  The externship helps the students gain experience without having to complete the certification process. Third, the externship often serves as a stimulus to employment. The student has the opportunity to network with professionals in the field and makes valuable contacts that sometimes lead to employment opportunities elsewhere.

The experiences gained from an externship is a postive component for the employment success after graduation. In addition to making it a little easier to find employment in the field of study, students can expect better job satisfaction because they are more prepared and aware of the content of their careers. PCCTI is committed in assisting student in obtaining externship after they have completed their course with the cumulative G.P.A. 2.0 or better, however the school does not guarantee placement in clinical externship as it an assistance only.
Clinical externship assistance is provided only once to a student with a maximum of 125 hours.

Resume Development and Critique is the third component to our Career Development Services.  Cover letters and resumes are the first impression that employers receive of the student or individual. The resume is the first glimpse into a student's experiences and background. A resume is a very important part of a students' presentation. PCCTI offers resume development services to ensure that students' cover letters and resumes are ready to send out to prospective employers.

Educational Advisors, Training Managers, and Directors of Operation meet with the student to learn background material and aid the student in the proper format of the style of the cover letter and resume. Staff also checks for grammatical errors and misspellings. In addition, PCCTI staff prepares the resume for the correct market. This is extremely important.

PCCTI has a variety of students that enter a course.  Some students may be young students right out of high school, while others may have been working for years in a field other than the field they are studying to enter in.  PCCTI takes every resume and carefully tailors it to fit the field.

For example, someone may have been working as a marketing manager for eight years and now are entering the Medical Billing and Coding industry. This individual may not have a great deal of experience in the medical field but may have a great deal of experience with other skills that pertain to the Medical Billing and Coding field. This is where PCCTI staff comes in to redirect the cover letter and resume making it more marketable to an employer.

A strong resume is a major building block to obtaining employment.  PCCTI works diligently to ensure that every student's resume is above standard and ideal to send out to employers.

Career Services Assistance is the final step in the Career Development Services before employment.  As stated earlier, PCCTI's Educational Advisors, Training Managers, and Directors of Operation work diligently to help find affiliations and partnerships with various medical facilities.  PCCTI staff also works in helping students find employment with these facilities.  Websites, newspapers, and magazines are checked daily to see who is hiring. PCCTI staff contacts those facilities and attempt to work an agreement with the facility in sending our students over for employment. Our Career Manager sends emails, faxes, and post jobs on Job Boards for our students.  Leads are given on a regular basis.

PCCTI also sends out resumes of students where seen relevant.

Career Fairs are also found for students. Career fairs are a great way for students to network and receive a mock or preliminary interview. Students can utilize the skills they used in Career Development workshops and use the resumes that were critiqued by a skilled staff.

PCCTI is committed in developing a great potential employee out of our students. Staff is prepared for any challenge and is available six days a week to aid students in providing them the best possible resources and training to aid them in reaching their career goals.
However PCCTI does not guarantee job placement.
